details on microsoft's 'rise of the tomb raider' deal emerge

When Microsoft's deal was originally announced, it seemed Crystal Dynamics' new Croft adventure was only going to land on Xbox shelves. Soon after that, Phil Spencer cleared everything up by simply saying it was a "timed exclusive." Then everyone planned on the game releasing on Playstation in Spring 2016. Well, today details were announced on just how "exclusive" Microsoft's deal really is.

The game will release on Xbox One and Xbox 360 this November 10 and hit PC in early 2016. It will finally make it's way into the hearts of Sony fans in holiday 2016. That's right, Rise of the Tomb Raider is Xbox One console exclusive for an entire year. That's a much better deal than was expected so kudos to Microsoft on investing in an exclusive that will be worth their easy earned money.

Crystal Dynamics did not reveal release dates for the PC and PS4 versions specifically, but those on the Playstation front will be happy to know that will come eventually. It was also not mentioned if a PS3 version will be released. At this time, it seems as though Microsoft might have a firm exclusive on the previous generation release of the game.

Don't fret too much on this news, Sony fans. Nathan Drake has his own adventure coming your way in Spring 2016. Xbox fans, those of you who are able to take a break from Halo 5 matchmaking and the Boston Wasteland in Fallout 4, Lara Croft will be ready to rise up on November 10 later this year.
